Model Train Operations
On A Great CPR-inspired
Canadian HO Layout.

I recently participated in a model train operations session on Al Crisp's HO scale layout. The layout is set in the region north of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada. The scenery is rugged rock with lots of trees. I decided to try to capture the workings of the freight train that Jason Jongen and I were responsible for during the roughly 4-hour session. There were 14 operators and we managed to complete 6 of the 8 scheduled trains. Jason and I were working train 431/432, an out and back freight train that has to cover most of the layout doing setouts and pickups. Jason was engineer and I was conductor/brakeman in training so I didn't capture all the action. I only had my Fujifilm Finepix S1000 digital camera with me, not my video camera. This was shot on the fly using the movie setting.

All my model train video compilations are also on my YouTube site if you go to modelrailroadinfoguy.

Jason is also an accomplished photographer of prototype trains. I've posted a page of some of Jason's Canadian train photos that were taken in Ontario

.

There are also more photos of Al's layout on the Train Photos page if you go to Muskoka Layout Tour.
